Govern at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago in 1996

From Jason:

We were to embark on a southern tour which was to end in Florida. When I showed up to load my drums into our van I was told that the tour was canceled. BJ the guitarist in the silk 70s Burnt orange shirt called his friend Zack in Akron Ohio, who was going to help get a show up there. So we first drove to Cincinnati. Me and BJ went into one club while Alex and Dave went to another asking if we could jump on a show. Me and BJ got us a show at a laundromat/venue and we opened. It actually went really well from what I can remember and we left for Columbus, OH. In Columbus we met the guys in Unsane. After Sweet talk’n them they said we could follow them to the next city and finish out the tour with them. So on we went to Grand Rapids Michigan.

**Let me stop here and remind you something we packed for a tour in Florida, we had bathing suits, we had shorts, We were now in the north during late December and it was freezing. We went to a local thrift store and bought coats and I bought a huge 70s pimp coat because of course I did.***

So then we go to Chicago which was my first time there and we played at the fireside bowl where this picture was taken and opened for Unsane! The final show was the Amrep Christmas party in Minneapolis Minnesota. There was no guarantee we would play this show but we were ready if there was time. However, we didn’t end up playing it because there was a surprise performance by the cows. I mean. The cows. This was 1996. I was 21. The band was Govern.
